This is my youngest playing in my little sewing nook. Both of my girls love to put fabric on the "design wall" (which is really just the reverse side of a vinyl table cloth) and play in my scrap bins. I don't know if I'd get any sewing done when the kids are awake without this thing! :)School was canceled due to another Ohio winter snow storm and below freezing temperatures...so it looks like the day will be spent bundled up in the house sewing! After I do some much needed cleaning first. Wooheeeeeee!!! (That woohee was for the sewing part, not the cleaning part! Lol*)
Here's my progress on the medallion...
It's coming along! I am really in love with it. :) One more thing - I have a question for some of you quilters out there who have experience "blocking" a quilt. How do you do it? Do you use steam or do you completely saturate your quilt and pin it? I would appreciate any advice or tips offered! ;)

I use a spray bottle and spritz the quilttop (or quilt if I have washed it and it didn't come out flat or square.) I then gently get it as square as possible before pressing it. Works OK for me!
Oh wow! It's looking spectacular! I love all the colors together...sooo pretty! :) Yay for snowstorms! We rarely have them, but we do have high wind/rainstorms that cancel school...not yet this year though. Have fun sewing! :)
I'm pretty sure Judy Laquidara of Patchworktimes.com once blogged about it a couple years ago... but I can't find the post. She used T-pins to pin the sides down, and then sprayed the entire quilt with water. Let it stay pinned to the carpet until it's dry (I know! With little feet running around...) and theoretically, your quilt should be nice and square. :)

You sure have a good collection of purples in your project. My supply of purples is so low now and I don't find much that I would want to add to it.

Do you have EQ6? I have it and just play with it all the time.
As for blocking, I have never tried it. But pinning with t-pins to the carpet makes sense.

Looks like you have a couple of soon to be quilters in your family.
I don't have much blocking experience, but have misted heavily and let dry, while pinned to a sheet that was stretched and taped to a garage floor. Good luck!
