Dahlia Progress

If you follow me on Facebook you have likely seen these already, but I wanted to share on the blog some of my dahlia quilting process.  As I go along I'm getting more ideas for finishing - and really enjoying the process of this one...

Lake Farm Park Quilts 2015 Part 3

Part three, and my last post sharing some of my favorite quilts from Lake Farm Park Quilts 2015 this year!  This one was by far one of the most striking of the entire show.  I'm 99% sure it's a Sharon Schamber embroidery pattern - and boy do I ever love the color choices used.

Sharon Schamber is my all time biggest inspiration so I loved seeing this little quilt.  I don't know if and when I'll ever order her embroidery patterns as they aren't something I can see myself using frequently, but I love to look.  I would love to come up with intricate designs like this to free hand though!

This next quilt to share wasn't terribly intricately quilted or pieced but it is absolutely lovely none the less.  I photographed it more for client inspiration than anything.  It says the owner used a computerized machine so I'm going to guess some of those corner stones and sashing designs were computer quilted and the blocks and borders were free hand.

While I love hand guided quilting and designing quilting plans is my absolute passion - I am no computer snob!  I would love to add one some day for my business.  I could see a lot of fun to be had.  :)

I want to say this last one was one of my absolute favorites in regard to the quilting.  The quality of the quilting is fantastic - but not only that - the designs were PERFECT.

I don't know if I could have chosen the designs for each block so well myself.  Everything down to the border feathers compliment this quilt perfectly.  I love it!

Oh and I had to sneak in my friend Peggy's quilt...she won blue for her category!  Way to go Peggy!

Well that's it!  I had a great time this year and am so glad I went.  The quality of workmanship has really stepped up this year and I hope it continues.  I'll leave you with some goofyness from Mom and me at lunch!  :)

Happy Spring!

Lake Farm Park Quilts 2015 Part 2

Part two of my day at Lake Farm Park Quilts 2015...and Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I don't have any green finishes to share but I did pull a quilt off the frame today.  I have quite a bit more work to finish up this evening though so I'll save photos for another post.

I'll start with another of my favorites from the show - and boy oh boy was this one beautiful.  The pictures don't do it justice.  It was in the perfect lighting to show off all of the sparkle and bling...

This one is just so pretty and full of interest - I love looking at it.  My favorite part is the the hot air balloon...inside are the maker's three grandchildren.  I mean - what a treasure!

I just think that makes the whole quilt.  :)  I tried to get lots of close ups of all the embellishing on this one.  It's pretty incredible.

Now this one below is just so pretty!  In addition to quilting I also really love gardening...so this was right up my alley.

It looks like each flower was painted then embroidered over....well, she even says it in the description!  I don't know if I ever would have thought to do something like this.  I love it!

I also really loved these feathers that look kind of like leaves - with pebbling in the spine.  They are so pretty and work so well with this quilt.

My favorite part was the trellis...so cute!

You can guess that this next one was my absolute favorite of the show.  Not only is it a dahlia, but the quilting is SO beautiful!

The absolute best part is this outer border...it's just so perfect!

Deservingly so it won best machine quilting in addition to a blue ribbon in its category.  Such a gorgeous quilt.  I am also smitten with the use of blue thread on white fabric!  Does that remind anyone of a quilt I might be working on currently?  With blue on black fabric?!  LOL

I think I have enough photos for one more post...I'll shoot for tomorrow!  :)
